She has been feeling it for a while now- the sense of awakening. There is a gentle rage simmering inside her, and it is getting stronger by the day. She will hold it close to her- she will nurture it and let it grow. She won’t let anyone take it away from her. It is her rocket fuel and finally, she is going places. She can feel it down to her very core- this is her time. She will not only climb mountains- she will move them too. -Lang Leav (Her Time)
I like this poem because it challenges me to be bigger, an itch for something greater than myself and the daily struggles that I face. It makes me want to get up and do something. Go somewhere. Change and evolve. It pressures me to be responsible.
Every morning when I turn on the news, all that they cover is devastation.
I turn the T.V. off feeling more exhausted than I was the night before, crawling in my bed after a long day at work. This world has a lot of dark in it right now. It seems the darkness continues to grow. With each bad thing happening, it seems the enemy wins yet another small battle.
I refuse to let him win.
This poem is empowering to me. I refuse to sit by and let the world grow dark. With every dark spot, there is a patch of light on its way to cover it up and with every dark thing that occurs, there is more light to restore it.
There is light at the end of the tunnel.
How true is that? Do you believe that?
The enemy is winning NO battles. Not today, not with broken people, not with my community, not in the world and certainly not when I have the God that I do, standing in my corner.
***and certainly not when WE have the God that WE do, standing in OUR corner.
I refuse to live a life full of fear, where I am scared to fly in an airplane or go see a movie in a theater with my family. A life where I am shut down when I try to talk about my Jesus or recite the Bible. A life where my opinion doesn’t count. Where I am judged based off of my color, ethnicity, religion, sex, etc.
This world is hard to live in, I know that. There is so much good around us. The only difference between the good and the bad is that the media and people like to feed off of the bad instead of the good.
My friend just had her first baby.
My little sister is starting high school. One of my closest friends is getting married. I woke up this morning.
We need to be empowered to highlight the good and be the good. It starts inside of us, individually and if we never share it with others how will anyone see it?
The darkness in this world is broadcasted so loudly. We need to be even louder. For the light to be even louder.
Join me, because this is about our families and friends. It’s about our homes and our futures.
We all matter to God. He created us all with a purpose. Our purpose is not to destroy each other, it is to love one another. Click To Tweet
I hope this poem empowers you, like it does me, to love. To stand up and show love. To tell people about Jesus. To smile to strangers. To be kind.
Because for as much as we’re going to climb mountains, we need to be able to move him them too.
